The Fed has scheduled the first 2027 meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), its rate-setting body, for Tuesday 26 January and Wednesday 27 January. The Federal Reserve plans to release the policy statement at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on 27 January. The Chair plans to hold a news conference at 2:30 p.m. the same day.
The FOMC has eight scheduled meetings in 2027, the last on 7 and 8 December. The calendar marks four of them for new economic projections. We wrote this page on 4 November 2026 from the Fed's calendar, which the Fed last updated on 28 October 2026. On 28 October 2026, Chair Kevin Warsh said one 2027 meeting will focus only on strategy. He anticipates neither a vote on the Fed Funds Rate nor a policy statement. The calendar does not say which meeting.

The Fed holds every 2027 meeting on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. The Fed's practice is a 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time statement on the Wednesday, but the Chair said one 2027 meeting will have none.
The Fed's calendar marks March, June, September, and December for a Summary of Economic Projections, which includes the dot plot (the chart of each participant's rate projection).
No 2027 meeting falls in February, May, August, or November.

2027 FOMC schedule as listed by the Federal Reserve on 4 November 2026. The Fed treats each date as tentative until the previous meeting confirms it. The Chair said on 28 October 2026 that one 2027 meeting will carry no rate vote or statement. The Fed has not said which. Otherwise the Fed releases its statement at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the decision day. Minutes dates apply the Fed's three-week rule and are not yet listed by the Fed. Source: Federal Reserve
The Fed's calendar says each meeting date stays tentative until the Committee confirms it at the meeting immediately before. The Fed also lists a two-day meeting on 25-26 January 2028.
The FOMC holds eight regularly scheduled meetings a year and "other meetings as needed". The table covers the eight scheduled ones. The Fed's calendar page says Committee membership changes at the first regularly scheduled meeting of the year, which is 26-27 January in 2027. Our guide to what the FOMC is and who votes covers the rotation.
How do the 2027 dates compare with 2026?
Both years have eight meetings, four of them with projections. Every meeting runs Tuesday to Wednesday. Seven of the eight 2027 meetings fall one day earlier in the month than their 2026 counterparts. January moves from 27-28 to 26-27. December moves from 8-9 to 7-8.
June is the exception. The June 2027 meeting runs 8-9 June, eight days earlier in the month than the 16-17 June meeting in 2026.

Which 2027 meetings have a Summary of Economic Projections?
The Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) is a table in which each meeting participant gives a projection for growth, unemployment, inflation, and the Fed Funds Rate. The Fed publishes the medians, the ranges, and a chart of every participant's Fed Funds Rate projection, which is the dot plot.
The Fed's calendar marks four 2027 meetings with an asterisk for it: 16-17 March, 8-9 June, 14-15 September, and 7-8 December. The Chair has not said whether the strategy meeting keeps its projections.
The Fed releases the projections at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time with the statement. The other four meetings, in January, April, July, and October, carry no new projections.
The September 2026 SEP shows what a projection set contains. Chart 3 plots its median Fed Funds Rate projections. The median projection for the Fed Funds Rate was 4.1% at the end of 2026 and 4.1% at the end of 2027, rounded to one decimal. The Fed defines each projection as the midpoint of the appropriate target range at year-end.

The Committee's range after the 28 October 2026 meeting is 3.75% to 4%, which has a midpoint of 3.875%.
The same September table shows median projections for 2027 of 2.4% real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, 4.1% unemployment, and 2.3% Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation. Each figure is a median of participants' individual projections, so none of them is a Committee decision.
As of 4 November 2026, the next SEP meeting is 8-9 December 2026. Our dot plot guide explains how to read the chart.
