While the ceasefire has been extended, nothing on the ground has really changed. The US blockade is intercepting Iranian-related supertankers leaving the Strait.
For now, we continue watching how the macro elements trade against each other, with some patience in observing whether this equity rally is the real deal, or a position squeeze that will fade away.
Bloomberg Headlines This Morning
The US military intercepted two Iranian oil supertankers, Hedy and Hero II, that tried to evade its blockade.
The US blockade against Iran has directed vessels to turn around or return to port, with Tehran threatening vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The blockade has resulted in a significant oil-supply loss, with shipping through the waterway at a fraction of peace-time levels and an expected supply loss of around 1 billion barrels.
